FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve tried our best to answer some questions you may have.
Is it actually free?
Yes! Try it, just open the textbook and use it. You don't even need an account.
How do you make money?
We don't make any money (at the moment). We don't plan to use ads either.

Right now, we're doing it from the love of our hearts, to support the next generation of doctors. However, we do want to make some money in the future, and we will look to expand our platform to include various other features as time passes. But that's along way off from happening.
Can I contribute?
Of course! We're open to contributors, and it'll look great on you CV to show you contributed to medical education. Just use our contact form or email us at hello@medschoolessentials.co.uk and explain what you'd like to do and we'll talk!
Is your content tailored to the UKMLA?
Yes! We include topics labelled under an MLA category (mapped from the UKMLA content map), and also topics mentioned in the university handbook, so you don't miss a thing from your university's internal exams.
Why isn't the textbook complete?
We're currently in medical school ourselves, we have to balance our own studying, work and life alongside this. We try to add new content as fast as we can, but we're only human after all!

You can keep track of any updates via our Changelog.
Is your information up-to-date?
Medicine is a fast, ever-evolving field. We cannot guarantee, or accept any liability, for any out-of-date information. Each note does include a 'last updated' date, which you can use to see if there's any updates. If you do spot one, speed up our process of updating it by using our contact form to let us know!
Are you approved by the University of Birmingham?
Nope! We are in no way affiliated with the University of Birmingham. We are also not endorsed by them.
If I just use these notes, will I pass?
We make no guarantees that you will pass, as medicine is a multi-faceted endeavour. You require more than just notes to pass.

However, that being said, our notes provide an outstanding knowledge base which, if used correctly and efficiently, alongside other revision, should help you achieve a pass.
Will you make notes for other universities?
Right now, we're focusing on the University of Birmingham. However, in the future, depending on the demand and success of this platform, we may make plans to expand into other universities.
